On May 10, Hainan Huasheng New Material Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Hainan Huasheng") polycarbonate project (Phase I) 240,000 tons/year, which was undertaken by China Chengda Engineering Co., Ltd. The bisphenol A plant has completed the full cycle operation and produced qualified bisphenol A products, marking the successful start-up of the bisphenol A plant after one feeding and fully transferred to the production trial operation stage.

The bisphenol A unit is one of the main units in the Hainan Huasheng polycarbonate project, using KBR/MCC bisphenol A process technology. After the device reaches production capacity, it will effectively reduce the raw material cost of the bisphenol A downstream PC device and improve the upstream industry chain of new polycarbonate materials. The successful start-up of the device has also added a strong touch to the development of Chengda's "carbon three" industrial technology, and empowered the company's high-quality sustainable development.

The total investment of the first phase of the project is 4.5 billion yuan. It mainly builds two major process production units, including a 224,000-ton/year diphenyl carbonate unit, a 260,000-ton/year polycarbonate unit, a 240,000-ton/year bisphenol A unit, and a 10,000-ton/year bisphenol A unit. 10,000 tons/year dimethyl carbonate plant and related supporting facilities. The total investment of the second phase of the project is 13 billion yuan. It will build a 600,000-ton/year propane dehydrogenation unit, a 400/240,000-ton/year phenol/acetone unit, a 400,000-ton/year polypropylene unit, and a 400,000-ton/year polypropylene unit. A set of 240,000 tons/year bisphenol A plant, a set of 100,000 tons/year dimethyl carbonate plant, and a set of 260,000 tons/year polycarbonate plant, and plan PC modification for downstream industries to form 100,000 tons/year PC Alloy scale. Hainan Huasheng Polycarbonate Project is a large-scale industrial project in Hainan Province and a key project in Dongfang City. After completion, it will fill the gap in the polycarbonate industry in Hainan Province, and is of great significance to promoting Hainan's industrial transformation and upgrading and high-quality economic development.

In 2021, Zhongsha, Pingmei Shenma, and Zhejiang Petrochemical will be completed and put into operation, and the total domestic production capacity of bisphenol A will increase by 660,000 tons/year to 2.64 million tons/year. In 2022, with the commissioning of Hainan Huasheng, and within the year, Jiangsu Ruiheng 240,000 tons, Guangxi Huayi 200,000 tons, Cangzhou Dahua 200,000 tons and other devices will also be completed and put into operation. By the end of 2022, the total domestic production capacity of bisphenol A will be completed. It is expected to surge to more than 3.5 million tons per year.
